Special Events

MWR supports many special events and annual programs throughout the year, the
largest being the Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show. Many of these events are
presented with the help of sponsorship for which we are thankful. Vendors are used at

Gate admission is free.Gates open at 8 am
each day. The show begins at 9:30 am.The
Blues are scheduled to fly about 2 pm. The
pilots sign autographs after the show.

The show includes air show acts, jet trucks,
static displays of aircraft of all types, food,
beverage and vendor booths. In the past we
have had virtual reality rides and other
attractions that make this show a favorite
excursion for folks from all over the country.
There is a Kids' Zone and usually virtual
games, and bungee jump to help entertain
the children. Home Depot has offered a
Kids Workshop Area with craft projects.

Navy Birthday Ball

The Navy Birthday falls in October and is celebrated annually with a formal ball. In
conjunction with MWR, the host command
holds several functions to help keep the price
of tickets reasonable. Money raising events
such as fishing, softball and golf tournaments, auctions, and prepared food sales are some
of the events that have been held.

MWR Flea Market

Spring and fall Flea Markets are held at the Youth Sports Fields off Hwy 98 near the Commissary and NEX Shopping Mall. MWR advertises the event in
the community and all are welcome to participate.

MWR Fun Fest

MWR hosts a Fun Fest that provides family fun and activities for all ages, from inflatables to disk golf. Different commands and affiliated groups sponsor games and booths, where they receive a percentage of the game ticket receipts and have an opportunity to win "Best Booth" cash award prizes, offered through sponsorship. In addition to the games, music and food are offered. The Fun Fest, one
of the events celebrating the Month of the Military Child, is held at the Corry Youth Fields off Highway 98, just east of the NEX mall.
