MWR
FANTASY FOOTBALL CONTEST

Sailors can build their own fantasy football team and compete nationally in a contest offered by
Navy Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR).

Fantasy Football is an interactive online/offline game that puts a person in control of his own simulated football team. They are considered a fantasy football "owner". These owners manage teams that are part of fantasy football leagues that can be formed and run/commissioned with groups of friends or entered individually. Almost all leagues are now run exclusively through the internet.

When someone joins a league, they form their team by drafting actual NFL players before the season begins. Drafts mostly occur during the month of August, at the tail-end of the preseason. This insures that owners have the latest roster changes, injury updates, and team/player analysis available to them.

Once the regular season gets underway, owners receive points in accordance with how well their players are performing on the field during their games. Although there are several types of league rules and point systems, the basic object of fantasy football is to accumulate enough points that allow you to win your weekly head-to-head match-up versus another owner, or Team (owners usually name their teams), within your league. Contest participants can enroll in MWR's free "Rapid Draft” Fantasy Football League," at www.mwrfantasysports.com , hosted by "World Fantasy Games," one of the top online fantasy sports companies. Each player will draft their team and play against eleven simulated Pro’s from the fantasy football industry (including Hall of Fame Quarterback Joe Namath) and compete directly with them throughout the season. There will be an overall military winner which will be determined by the total accumulation of points gained during each week’s games. The best player from the 5 Services will be going to Super Bowl XLV in February of 2011!

All eligible patrons are allowed to draft as many teams as permitted by World Fantasy Games. Once patrons are registered for their free team, they can draft their team anytime they want before the draft deadline—day or night. Custom leader boards are created for each service and an overall military leader board is available for ease in checking out your team compared to those across the entire nation. A custom Championship Ring will be presented to the top finisher from each service. In addition weekly prizes may be awarded. .
